This week, Susie Black’s Saturday Author Spotlight shines on author Margot Kinberg.
About the author: Margot Kinberg is a native of the United States who writes mystery and non-fiction educational books.
Susie Black had the opportunity to read and review A Matter of Motive, Margot’s riveting police procedural mystery. Here is a blurb to whet your appetite:
A man is dead in his car, slumped over the steering wheel. But who killed him? Ron Clemons is the last person you’d think would be murdered. His wife and son love him. His employees respect him. His business is doing well. His clients seek him out. But someone wanted him dead. The Clemons case is a golden opportunity for newly minted police detective Patricia Stanley to prove herself. It’s her first murder investigation, and she wants to do well. But it’s not going to be easy. For one thing, she has plenty to learn about handling a murder. And nearly everyone involved in this one is hiding something. Patricia faces her own challenges, too, as the investigation brings back the murder of an old love.
Here is Susie’s review:
A Matter of Motive is a tightly written story that grabs readers by the throat on page one and never lets them go. The plot threads are woven together by family, love, loss, courage, weakness, strength, the devastation of betrayal and trust, and a life-changing tragedy that is the result of a misguided sense of responsibility.
Margot Kinberg has created a flawed but believable main character who puts everything on the line when it counts the most. Newly minted homicide detective Patricia evokes strong emotions in readers right from the beginning in this parable of good versus evil in a capsulized sliver of society that defines the best and worst in human beings.
A Matter of Motive is a nail-biting tale with a cast of believable, but flawed characters and well-sprinkled red herrings that keep you on the edge of your seat and up way past your bedtime, turning the pages because you’ll never fall asleep until you find out what happens next. This exciting story has more than earned the five-star rating this reader has awarded it.
