This week, Susie Black’s Saturday Author Spotlight shines on multi-genre author Ileana Munoz-Renfroe.
About the author: Ileana was born in Cuba and raised in New York City’s Washington Heights. Yes, in The Heights, just as Lin-Manuel Miranda portrayed it—complete with abuelas spying over the neighborhood from their windowsill, Bodega owners welcoming you by name and chasing off graffiti artists, and everyone being involved in everyone’s business. A large family that would gather every evening downstairs to watch the children play and adults gossip. It was welcoming and cozy. In 2020, the idea of Rosa popped into her head, and the stories and characters became real. Since two of her passions are the paranormal and high-end fashion, she found a way to combine them and created Rosa the Cuban Psychic Mysteries. This series combines her Cuban and American cultures to create a fun, cozy mystery story. When she is not writing, she enjoys travelling, reading, entertaining, and listening to music.
