This week, Susie Black’s Saturday Author Spotlight shines on romance and suspense author Dianne McCartney.
About the author: Dianne McCartney is the author of fifteen suspense and romance novels. Her latest project, The Lucas Cameron Trilogy, was published in 2025. She enjoys presenting workshops on the craft of writing and judging writing contests. Her favorite authors are Nora Roberts, James Patterson, and British mystery writer Dick Francis. A former professional horsewoman, she lives with her husband, Mitch, in Bartlett, Tennessee. Any spare time is spent reading, checking out estate sales, and attending plays at local theaters.
The Daughter of Death is a compelling, many-layered suspense tale. Here is a blurb to whet your appetite:
Rachel Mann’s reclusive life is thrown into disarray by the discovery of a young woman’s dead body in her field. She is forced to call Sheriff Seth Talbot for help. They both want to discover why the body was dumped on her property, but Rachel has insider information she is reluctant to share. Seth is curious about why a young, attractive woman like Rachel would hide away from the world. What is she hiding? When a second body is found, he is forced to call in the FBI. As Rachel’s secret history is stripped away, exposing her tragic past, they struggle to find a way to protect the citizens of the county and their future together.
Here is what readers have to say about this page-turner:
Waverly: “Great Read! The Daughter of Death by Dianne McCartney is well written with all the twists and turns of a good thriller. The characters are three-dimensional and memorable. I enjoyed the book very much!”
C.D. Jarmola: “Once again, McCartney puts the thrill in thriller and throws in romance along the way. Great read.”
Jen McMur: “Lots of twists and turns, which is precisely what you want from a suspense novel. This book had me reading late into the night, just needing to know who done it.”
Rachel Marie: “There was just so much about this book that I loved. It was so easy for me to become thoroughly entrenched in the lives of these characters. They felt real. I could picture them, imagine them going about their lives in a small country town. The pace was perfect, building and revealing, building some more, always leaving a little tease just out of reach that kept me wanting to read faster and faster. Not only was the story itself great, but the writing...the writing was phenomenal! McCartney clearly has great skill and a wonderful command of the English language.
Favorite quote from the book: “Sometimes brilliance tangos with insanity and creates a monster.”
I definitely recommend this book and will be looking for Dianne McCartney’s other works.”
Gloria: “Full of suspense, terror, and a little bit of romance. I absolutely loved this and look forward to reading more by this author.”
Tamia Cloud Bible: “Excellent read. Great story and interesting characters. Kept me up too late!”
