Book 1 in this award-winning, endearing cozy murder mystery series.
Overworked, young medical intern Sarah James has no time for sleuthing. Her elderly neighbors, the spunky Fog Ladies, have nothing but time. When old ladies start to die in their elegant apartment building in San Francisco, Sarah assumes it is the natural consequence of growing old. The Fog Ladies assume murder. Mrs. Bridge falls off a stool cleaning bugs out of her kitchen light. Mrs. Talwin slips on bubbles in the bath and drowns. The Pacific Heights building is turning over tenants faster than the fog rolls in on a cool San Francisco evening. Sarah resists the Fog Ladies’ perseverations. But when one of them falls down the stairs and tells Sarah she was pushed, even Sarah believes evil lurks in their building. Can they find the killer before the killer finds them?
Here is what readers have to say about The Fog Ladies:
Ruth McLaughlin: “Fog is not the only unseen visitor. This was quite an interesting mystery. I changed my mind three times as to who the killer might be and was still wrong! Tracking down the clues, abuse of the elderly, and scams from other outsiders twist their way through this basket of mystery. Loved this book for the characters and the plot suspense. A must-read book.”
Lori Herbst: “Loved the Fog Ladies and their recruit, Sarah! The characters were quirky, fun, and people I’d like to know (well, most of them, lol). The plot moved along at a good pace, and the descriptions were vivid and solid without overwhelming the narrative. A page-turner!”
JJ: “Well-conceived plot that draws you into the story. So intriguing a story, hard to put down, as you want to find the next twist in this well-written story with such a diverse cast of interesting characters. I hope book two in the series will be out soon. The Fog Ladies is a cozy murder mystery with a cast of elderly sleuths and many possible suspects all co-mingling in a San Francisco apartment building. I enjoyed their stories, but most of all I enjoyed the old lady characters, each unique and interesting and fun, including one with a wonderful side story involving Starbucks lattes. The dialogue is witty and authentic. I could hear these ladies talking, often all at once. I loved the surprising climax, but the clues were all there if I’d been paying attention. I look forward to more Fog Lady mysteries.”
Mark Holt: “A very good read. This one had me from the beginning! As a reader, I start a book like a child on their first day at a new school. Meeting each character, finding a commonality with each one, and hoping we can be friends. As I met each ‘Fog Lady,’ they seemed to accept me as one of their own. I found it very enjoyable. This book is well-written, and I recommend it.”
Zalewski Valerie: “A very good read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Each Fog Lady has her own unique character. They are an interesting group. They have their faults, as we all do, and for this, they are very realistic. You find yourself saying, “Oh, I know someone just like her!” The plot is well portrayed. I didn’t have any idea who the perpetrator was until the reveal in the last chapters. I liked the main character, Sarah. She’s a down-to-earth person, caught up in a situation. I hope that there will be more books with the Fog Ladies.”
Isobel Nicholson: “I enjoyed this book and was hooked. The book is so well written, and the characters are brilliant. They are a combination of those older ladies who are so familiar and yet still have hidden depths. The premise is great, and the mystery is well constructed and unpredictable. There’s a combination of action, tension, and twists without the gore of some murder mysteries. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.”
