High school reporter Hannah gets more than she bargains for when she walks into Coach Bixby’s office for an interview. Instead of an exclusive, Hannah discovers Coach Bixby dead and football star Dean holding a bloody trophy. Hannah and friends don their sleuthing caps to unmask the real killer. Will Hannah’s nose for the news put her in mortal danger before the real killer is caught? Move over, Nancy Drew, there’s a new teen reporter/detective, and her name is Hannah. The Case of the Croaked Coach is a smart cozy mystery with a quick-witted, intelligent, go-getter heroine. The plot progression is fast, but with a complexity not seen in young adult books. Susie Black has created a heroine both adult and teen readers will connect with and root for. I couldn’t put down The Case of the Croaked Coach, and neither will you. If you’re familiar with Susie Black’s writing, you’re in for a treat. Susie Black’s wit, humorous dialogue, and unforgettable characters that we’ve all come to love is on full display here. The brilliance of Susie Black’s writing is how effortless it is to read. Plus, you’ll have a great time reading. While this is book one of a new series, it’s flawless. No mistakes or bumpy writing, I can’t wait to read more of Hannah and YY (young yentas) adventures. Fans of Nancy Drew will delight in The Case of the Croaked Coach. My Rating: 5++ stars
