It’s Sunday Evening Review Time. This week, Alicia Dean reviews The Case of the Croaked Coach. Here is Alicia’s review of the debut title of The Hannah White Mystery Series:
“The Case of the Croaked Coach is a fast, fun whodunit that leans hard into sharp humor and classic mystery twists. From the opening pages, readers are dropped into a high school crawling with motives, where the loathsome football coach Buzz Bixby has managed to make an enemy out of just about everyone.
Student reporter Hannah White is a standout protagonist—smart, sarcastic, and relentlessly curious. Her decision to investigate the murder after discovering star athlete Dean Snyder at the crime scene propels the story at a brisk pace, blending amateur sleuthing with teenage stakes and newsroom grit. The mystery is layered with red herrings, unexpected turns, and suspects who are anything but squeaky clean.
With its witty narration, colorful cast, and a plot that keeps tightening the screws, The Case of the Croaked Coach delivers an entertaining and cleverly constructed mystery. Fans of lighthearted crime fiction and irreverent amateur sleuths will find plenty to enjoy—and just enough bite to keep the pages turning.”
