Death by Sample Size is a sometimes comical, sometimes scary, and always engaging murder mystery. The setting is the LA swimwear industry, and the unlikely sleuth is swimwear sales executive Holly Schlivnik. When she finds the body of buying office VIP Bunny Frank one morning, Holly gets drawn into the web of a dangerous killer who’ll stop at nothing. Holly’s not perfect, but she’s smart and resourceful. You’ll cheer her on as she uncovers clues, gets into real danger, confronts suspects, and sometimes clashes with the detective who’s investigating, all while trying to keep her job.
There’s plenty of action and high tension, and Holly faces real threats to her life. It’s not always clear, either, who can be trusted and who can’t. There are very funny scenes and lots of wit, too. You’ll laugh out loud at some of Holly’s sarcastic comments, and you’ll appreciate the snappy dialogue, the satirical look at the LA fashion industry, and the suspenseful murder investigation. There’s a theme of friendship and support in the novel, too. It’s all neatly woven together in an LA-based story that touches on revenge, jealousy, and obsession. Highly recommended.
