Today is Book Quote Wednesday. The word of the day is DECIDE/DECISION.
I detailed our search of Beaumont’s office and showed them the photos. When I finished, Uncle B. shook his head. “I can’t DECIDE whether to kiss you or kill you…Good grief, Hannah, what the hell were you thinking? Do you realize how lucky you are? If you’re right about this guy, your adventure could have gone so terribly bad if you’d been caught. And if you didn’t convince him you had no way to get into the complex, then he was the one who tampered with your tires. And after that didn’t do the trick, he panicked and framed your English Lit teacher for Bixby’s murder and tried to kill her.”
I grinned. “On the bright side, if we’re right and someone framed Mrs. Hempler, Kojak can’t pin this one on Dean Snyder.”
Two sets of eyes glared at me. Uncle B growled. “And it never occurred to you that you could be the killer’s next victim?”
So much for using humor as the shovel to dig myself out of this hole. No sense in fighting a losing battle. Guilty as charged. I held out my hands in contrition. “Yes, I took a big risk. But I managed not to get caught.” I made the Girl Scout honor sign with my right hand. “And Girl Scout Honor, I promise not to do it again.”
Uncle B. snorted his derision. “Well, it would be a great comfort except you weren’t a Girl Scout.”
Was too. For three whole weeks.
I rolled my eyes. “Picky, picky.”
