Today is Book Quote Wednesday. The word of the day is RIDE.
We pulled up to the main entrance, and Tyrell’s version of Mr. Toad’s Wild RIDE concluded remarkably scratch-free as the taxi lurched to a stop. Tyrell pushed the meter arm down and turned around. His diamond-studded tooth glinted in the sunlight as he turned his head facing west to look at me. “The fare is fourteen dollars and twenty-five cents. I accept credit cards, but not checks. If you can pay in cash, it will be greatly appreciated.”
I handed him a twenty. I told him to keep the change, and he almost leaped over the seat to hug me.
I said, “No worries. You earned it. You made it in…” I searched for the right words. “Record-breaking time, and I appreciate it.”
He snatched the twenty out of my hand before I changed my mind. He handed me a business card and said to call him if I ever need another RIDE.
Right. You’ll be the first one I call if I have a death wish.
