Today is Book Quote Wednesday. The word of the day is APPEAR.
“It’s about damned time.” Marie pointed to Buddy and huffed with righteous indignation. “Land sakes alive! Mah man always moved fast as constipation. It was obvious he was sweet on me, the way he made goo-goo eyes whenever we got together. Still, I mighta died of old age waitin’ for the boy to finally git up the gumption to propose marriage.”
I opened my mouth to reply, but the two ghosts DISAPPEARED into thin air as Buddy turned toward the door.
He fingered the shawl, and I jumped. “Is your wrap gonna be warm enough? We’re still inside, and you’re already shivering.”
The words clogged in my throat, so I just nodded yes.
His concerned eyes searched mine. “Are you all right? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
You don’t know the half of it, Buddy boy. Death by Dreidel
