The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ USA” blared on a boom box in the background; a fitting introduction, as the Urban Surfers entered the tiki circle. They JAMMED the noses of their surfboards into the sand in a diagonal line across the circle, splitting it in half. Then the Urban Surfers positioned themselves around the outer rim of the circle, standing at attention between the tiki lamps.
